It's Official
I'm having surgery.
I have been having tests (X-Ray's, Bone Scan, MRI) and seeing specialists about a mass on the inside of my femur. I finally have confirmation that it is most likely a cyst, not a tumor, but it is large enough that it has to be "removed".
I got the full scoop today. The doc has to cut a window on one side of my bone, "scoop" out the components of the cyst and pack it with bone from a bone bank. I am thankful for bone banks. The alternative was to donate my own bone from my hip, which would make the surgery and recovery more extensive.
Recovery time, if all goes well, is 6-8 weeks. I got a prescription for crutches today. I have to use those bad boys for 6 weeks, then possibly a cane. (I am not even kidding).
Surgery is scheduled for August 5th.

I'm so sorry for all your pain and life-disrupting surgery. But I am glad that there seems to be no tumor.
We can't wait to see you tomorrow!
We'll have to try our dinner and a movie trick again. I can't believe the adults actually won.
It's nice to know we have that kind of power :)

I, too am glad it's not a tumor. Let me know if you need anything during your recovery!

plus: we'll help in any way we can.
wow... I am sorry to hear about your surgery coming up, but glad to know you are getting it taken care of. Isn't it great to be in America where you have the resources available to you for this kind of thing! Still, it will be hard to manage with the little guys around. I'll put you on the prayer list, make sure you let us know how it goes. When is the surgery?
